Registering with a Local GP
Residents should register with a local GP as soon as possible after arriving in Liverpool — do not wait until you are unwell. The recommended practice for students living in or near Liverpool city centre is Brownlow Health Central, which has three sites serving city centre students:
• Pembroke Place: 70 Pembroke Place, Liverpool, L69 3GF
• Ropewalks: 26 Argyle Street, Liverpool, L1 5DL
• Student Health Centre (University of Liverpool campus): Peach Street, L69 7ZL
Brownlow Health Central is also popular with students from both the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).
Once registered, residents can use any of the three sites and access the eConsult system online for medical queries and administrative requests such as sick notes.
To register online, visit https://central.brownlowhealth.co.uk/register/
For University of Liverpool students, further GP guidance is available at: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/welcome/welcome-first-week/welcome-gp/
For LJMU students, further support information is available at: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/discover/student-support/health-and-wellbeing/physical-health
If you are unsure which GP to register with, you can use the NHS Find a GP service at nhs.uk or contact Healthwatch Liverpool on 0300 77 77 007 for guidance.
